The Dog House is a family owned and operated business that is for dogs and for all the people who love them.

For years we had wanted to move back home to Boise. We had talked about starting our own business. We knew it had to be something we believed in and loved. Dogs have always been an important part of our lives, and so the idea of The Dog House was born. We were already baking homemade treats for all the dogs we knew when our daughter suggested Doggy Day Care, and from there our plans took off to include: Dog Training, a Retail Store area and Flint River Ranch Pet Food.

Linda has a background in various customer service positions. She worked for 20 years as a nurse and managed a child development center prior to opening The Dog House. Linda was involved in the "Family Dog" Obedience and Traditional Obedience Training of Maggie, her Golden Retriever. She has taken several dogs through the Leadership Class program and is proficient as a dog handler.

Richard began training dogs in 1996 under the tutelage of Jan Manning at Manning Dog Training in Yakima, Washington. He trained his own dogs and showed Maggie at several AKC events, where they finished in 1st place six times. In 1997 he began assisting Jan with her obedience classes, helping students prepare for obedience competitions. He continued assisting Jan with her Competitive Obedience classes and her Leadership Classes until 2003. In 2004 he worked as the assistant instructor for the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning classes and became the primary instructor for the Saturday afternoon class. He has been teaching Leadership Classes and Rally O classes since opening The Dog House. Richard is an AKC certified evaluator for the Canine Good Citizen Test.

If you are having a "doggy" problem we will do all we can to help. From the finicky eater with allergies, to the timid or overly enthusiastic dog, we will work with you to find a solution.
